About Us

History

We have been producing software for the educational community since 1992. Originally, the organization was named SoftStart: Custom Software. During incorporation in early 1995, the name was changed to Cogent Computing Corporation. We now concentrate on assessment software.

CQuest Test Authoring and Administration Software was first published in 1996. It started out as a single-user package for teachers to create paper-based tests. It is now used for online tests and tutorials, in small to large classroom testing environments, many testing more than 100 students at one time. Along with colleges and schools, the largest sector of our customer base is within the U.S. Military.

President

Sylvia Scheidegger-Burke: B.S. Computer Science, New Mexico State University; Master of Public Administration (MPA), also from NMSU. She has been in the field of computer science since 1973, as a programmer, systems analyst, database administrator and manager of information systems in the defense contracting/university environment. Currently CEO of Cogent Computing Corporation.
